CLINICAL PASTORAL EDUCATION (CPE) APPLICATION
Instructions: for persons desiring credit for equivalency clinical training for one or more units of CPE the following actions must occur: (1) Complete the CPE Equivalency Worksheet, (2) Complete the CPE Equivalency Application, (3) Attach all required transcripts, certificates, etc. and (4) Submit payment.
In order for equivalency training to be considered for one or more units of CPE, the equivalent training must meet the following requirements.
It must be a formal educational program, with curriculum, theological reflection, and formal evaluation of student functioning components, which includes performing ministry to persons as they struggle with issues related to sickness and health, grief and loss, meaning and value.
- The program must include 400 hours of supervised education, training and ministry for equivalency to one unit of CPE.
- The educational supervisor(s), preceptor(s), teacher(s), or coach/mentor(s), responsible for the program must be qualified to provide the supervision.
- The educational model must include an action/reflection component (that may vary from one program to another) that must have included: verbatims, case conferences, didactics, Interpersonal Relationships (IPR) with a peer group, worship seminars, spiritual assessments, theological reflection, and group process.
